Adaptation is the critical factor. At the start of the pandemic, organizations reached out to us to provide guidance on adapting to a widespread crisis. Additional crises have since emerged, further stretching people's capacity to adapt. The atypical stress associated with dramatic, unanticipated change can deplete a healthy level of personal agency. It interrupts the ability to lead oneself (and others) in effective, positive ways. Our virtual town hall events and seminars teach leaders, employees, and college-age students to put known psychological and behavioral best practices into use to keep themselves mentally strong, physically healthy, and fully engaged in managing their work and personal lives. Adapting to radical uncertainty amidst a series of cascading crises has become the order of the day. Fortunately we have science available to guide us onto healthier paths.
